Tell us your bold boss story!:
I was a corporate retail manager for 10 years and I left that world to have babies. While I was home I started a vintage retail clothing store exclusively on Instagram (@ollakoala) with no website and it became very successful very quickly. Soon I was getting questions from other business owners about how I was doing this, and I started helping them take better photos, and come up with a marketing strategy, merchandising their products and customer service- all things I learned from my retail experience. In 2015 I decided to start taking business clients under Hooray House Studio and offering visual strategy and branding development. That isn't too far from what I continue to do now. I work with clients one on one and in groups to develop their business inside and out. I think the internal structure of a business is the most overlooked aspect of branding. You can't have an effective exterior without first having a solid brand foundation and internal structure
We're all about bold boss moments, tell us about one of yours!:
I've made the biggest pivot in my business to date just a few months ago. I am starting a movement for women in business called The Bizfluence (short for Business + Influence) which focuses on building a community of business owners who want to work together, collaborate, network, and help each other to get seen and heard. It comes with an incredible amount of business development to help owners amplify their impact, influence, and income. We work on leadership skills, building community, and creating content that is super valuable for our people!
What advice or words of encouragement do you have for the Bold Boss Tribe?:
Don't get distracted by all the flashy and "fun" parts of running a business that you forget about what makes businesses successful: connection, emotion, and intention. We are better together and our business is nothing without our people.
