Tell us your bold boss story!:
2 years ago I was a stay at home mom with 4 little kids (including a baby) and we were struggling financially. I didn't believe I would ever be able to make any decent money because, although I've probably read more than most college grads these days, I had NO higher education. I didn't even have a high school diploma. And after I did the calculations I realized that going out and finding a minimum wage job would end up just about paying for my baby's childcare. And there was NO way I was going to leave my family and go out to work in a menial job just to break even! I'd always been firm about being there for my children as they grew, and the idea of leaving them for no good reason broke my heart.
I'd tried photography and ended up hating it because I was a perfectionist and never felt my work was good enough. I'd tried cake decorating but there wasn't enough of a profit margin. I tried gift basket creation but, while I realized I had a talent for wrapping gifts, the profit margin again wasn't great and it required a certain amount of investment in stock and materials.
So I decided I'd have to find something I could do from home, that was scalable, and that I could get paid WELL for!
And I discovered the world of online business.
The more I learned the more I realized that I didn't need a degree, or even a high school diploma. What mattered was how hard I worked to learn and implement!
I started off as a virtual assistant getting paid $300 a month, and now I'm currently growing a digital marketing and visibility coaching business that's running at a 6-figure run rate!
We're all about bold boss moments, tell us about one of yours!:
I joined a mastermind run by a 7-figure business owner, and it's exponentially grown my business! A huge win for me was when I did some marketing work for her, and she was blown away by how good it was! It really made me feel like I'd "arrived". Another one was helping a client decrease her cost per lead by 50% - she was able to reach so many more people with her message and it was amazing!
What advice or words of encouragement do you have for the Going Bold community?:
Excuses will ALWAYS be there for you. You can always find an excuse not to do what you know you need to do to grow. But...if you really want to grow and achieve, you'll crush those excuses and TAKE ACTION!
If I could do it with 4 little ones and no household help, you can too!!!
